分陀利迦

分陀利迦
(also see [lang id =1028]分陀利) puṇḍarīka, [lang id =1028]芬陀; [lang id =1028]分荼利迦, [lang id =1028]分荼利華, [lang id =1028]奔荼利迦, [lang id =1028]奔荼利華; [lang id =1028]本拏哩迦; the [lang id =1028]白蓮花 white lotus (in full bloom). It is also termed [lang id =1028]百葉華 (or [lang id =1028]八葉華) hundred (or eight) leaf flower. For <Saddharma-puṇḍarīka>, the <Lotus Sutra>, v. [lang id =1028]妙法蓮華經. The eighth and coldest hell is called after this flower, because the cold lays bare the bones of the wicked, so that they resemble the whiteness of this lotus. It is also called [lang id =1028]隨色花; when a bud, it is known as [lang id =1028]屈摩羅; and when fading, as [lang id =1028]迦摩羅.
